The OSTKREUZ Agency was founded in 1990 by seven photographers from the GDR, among them Harald Hauswald, with the aim to promote photography that was reality oriented and free from any political constraints. Since its founding, the agency has established itself as one of the most significant photography agencies in Germany as well as the most important photography school in Berlin.
